Had fantastic birthday celebrations with friends, family, and JS! Definitely a memorable 21st :)! I'm so happy to have all these great people in my life. JS finally met (most of) the extended family on my dad's side! The most recent Chen fam-jam reminded me again of how lucky I am to have such a big, united family. No drama, no animosity, just love, honesty, communication and always available helpful hands.

The winter break starts now! Hello holiday! Today was my last exam, I can't believe my final year is half over! This time next year I'll be working full time... Life's happening!

Monopoly deal is my new addiction. I swear, it's all JS and I do now. However we finally took a break from it earlier this week and went to the ROM, did a little shopping, and tried Pastis in Rosedale. I had the lobster, which was of course delicious, but I found his liver steak to be quite interesting. Also earlier this week grabbed lunch with the girls, as we won't be seeing each other until the holiday begins. We hit up our usually Korean place and grabbed bubble tea after. As... rustic...as Food Jungle looks, it's got amazing mango bubble tea that just keeps bringing us back. That's the great thing about a good thing, though understated it really just sells itself.

I mentioned last post that I was on the brink of making a life-changing decision.

Well, I made it. Get ready, this is going to be a long one.

Hello Target Canada!

JS made me these Target-themed cupcakes to celebrate my decision! Whatta guy!

I recently finished the first round of recruiting and received job offers from very different, but prestigious companies. They offer amazing opportunities for growth and development, so it was one of the most difficult choices I've had to make! When I was weighing the options, there were so many things I loved about the opportunities. I was feeling a bit flattered with the first-choice offers, as I was competing with business kids from Ivey, Schulich and other reputable schools. Not that University of Toronto isn't, but the jobs were for business, and I'm a Political Science student. It seemed pretty against the grain for me to make the jump, since all my life it was assumed that I would working towards the public sector.

The interview processes were all new to me: assessment tests, timed logical reasoning and mathematical reasoning, case studies... But all the hard work paid off in the end with first-choice offers. I'm not posting this to say, hey look at me, I'm so amazing (I mean that's already so obvious right? ... right? ha). Rather, to highlight and share this period of my life to all those going through the same thing, or will be in the future.

I'm not a career pro, or anything like that, but what I can add from personal experience is: Keep going! Reach out to friends and family. As long as you have chosen your crowd wisely, they will help you through whatever you need. They gave me an extra pair of eyes for my resume, helped me practice for my interviews, case studies, and reassured me when I felt the pressure weighting down on me. Many of my friends were also going through recruiting as well. I'm extremely proud of all of them for achieving exactly what they've been striving for. From investment banking, accounting, sciences, and more, this network of friends and family have all contributed to shaping my future. As busy as life gets for everyone, they made sure they stepped up to do what they could. I'm thankful for all of them and that I will be proceeding into the next steps of my life with their companionship and guidance.

When making the decision, it's true that you really have to look at more than just the pay. One of the most tempting offers had not only a great benefits and compensation package, but the job also had a rotational structure along with company and program prestige. Here's a hint: telecommunications and beavers. The recruitment process was well-executed and the people were professional but personable. It offered stability, numerous avenues of business, and the opportunity to experience numerous aspects of the company. It seemed like a no-brainer. However, what tipped my decision over to Target Canada was not only the competitive compensation and work culture but the challenge, risk, and excitement of being a part of launching a company in it's first international expansion. We're young. Now is the time to take those chances!

Now that I've secured full-time employment after graduation early, I can focus on the now! Yes school, but also, next summer I am planning to backpack around Asia (locations still being decided) for two months! As much as I want to just go crazy Christmas shopping this holiday or go somewhere hot, I will resist, and focus on saving for that epic trip!

Here's to the future! I wish everyone all the best and good fortune, and hope that you all can feel the complete and utter contentment that I do. Of course the career start doesn't make it or break it, but adds to the whole: working towards a bright future, being surrounded by supportive family and friends, all while enjoying each day, a healthy lifestyle and new experiences. Maybe I haven't got every material thing, but the life-bases are covered and I'll work on the details as I go.

Wow two months until an update. Is that a new record for me? A quick photo overview of a few highlights these past couple months, but here are some words as well. Things have been so busy with midterm papers and recruiting, I meant to update my blog, but instead resorted to journal writing. I'm always tempted to v-log, but I don't think I could give up writing. At the same time, those in the moment rants/spiels are difficult to reiterate once the moment has passed. On the other hand, wearing my heart on my sleeve, or should I say my internet connection, is not really my cup of tea. I've kept a journal since I was in the sixth grade. Granted, it's been a bit of a love/hate and on/off relationship, but I think I've been somewhat consistent. There's nothing like working it all out on paper. It's like math. You do all the work, but the answer could be wrong. Looking back at it, you can see your error. I love going back and reading old entries, it helps me figure out my thought patterns and how to govern it better in the future. Also, it helps to laugh at how things have changed. This time last year I was juggling three job, a full course load, working on finding summer employment and other frivolous activities. This year, I cut down the number of jobs to one and focused on recruiting. All the hard work, especially this past year, has finally paid off! Now I just have to make some important decisions and we're on our way! I can't even express how amazing it felt to submit my graduation request. The same will go for when I sign offer papers. Whatever I decide, I know my family and friends will support me all the way just as they always have and I'm so grateful.

The multitude of English courses this year has truly honed my enjoyment of reading. As relaxed as they seem, I can tell you that statistical analysis is a walk in the park compared to critically analyzing the complexities of Milton, Austen and other novelists. I've read a great deal of the books leisurely in the past, but these courses definitely forced me to see beneath the surface of words, making it all the more enjoyable. A definite favourite has always been Pride and Prejudice, but lately I'm digging Mansfield Park, probably one of the most complex novels of Jane Austen I've ever read. Paradise Lost will always be a favourite as well. Satan is truly amazing. For a 16th century guy, Milton sure knows how to evoke passion in the soul. As busy as life gets, I always try to read for pleasure. I feel like it's a dying art. Everyone comments that I read very quickly and retain the knowledge well, but I'm always seeking improvement.

I'm the worst at keeping up with blogging. Work at MOL is almost finished and even though I'll miss my team very much it's time to say goodbye and hello to the approaching school year! This will be my final week at MOL and I must say I'm a little sad! I've spent everyday with those lovely ladies since May and we'll be going out separate ways this Friday! Speaking of which, big shout out to my MOL girl AZ for getting into UBC Pharmacy! She's a brilliant one, and I'll be expecting big things from all of them in the near future. Also, this year will be my last, and then UofT will smack me on the bum and release me out of it's womb and into the world. Errrr... Worst, analogy, ever. Darn. Regardless, amped up for this final year, I just got a new planner and I'm hella excited! What can I say, organization really turns me on. Summer is dwindling down and a few more things must be crossed off the list, such as CNE! It's been an amazing few months, spending it with people I adore and trying new things. For example, camping! I went up to Algonquin last weekend! I canoed! Pictures soon. Went to Hemingway's last night to say farewell to my dear friend SN who is backpacking around Asia alone for the next three months and Woo Lounge for AT's birthday! A picture is worth a thousand words, so I decked you all with a whole slew of them! That explains why they're smaller than usual. The photos sum up my long weekend trip to Montreal, then it was back to work on Tuesday! Since then I've felt like I haven't had much time at home or to myself! Can you believe it's the end of May already?! 1/4 of the summer gone!

Drove up to Peterborough on Wednesday and stayed the night at GC's place, aka The Castle. The reason they called it "the castle" was because it's amazing. I wish I snagged some photos, but all I can do is describe. Think spacious, modern, open concept, hardwood, mirror-lined walls, fully stocked and well decorated. The basement was a virtual golf room! GC's parents were kind enough to make us a great Korean dinner, after which we went to their dojo to learn a few Hapkido basics and have some fun. And to end the night off, some intoxicated virtual golf. Thursday we woke up late, had a late lunch at Matsu and set back on the road to reality.

I love days/nights in. I'm a simple girl. All I need is good food and good company. JS and I decided to try to make salmon and pork burgers yesterday with mashed potatoes and veggies. They turned out great, but it's too bad he couldn't taste them! Stuffy noses do that to you. There's a sick-bug going around and I'm lucky to have fought it off just in time for my first day of work tomorrow! I'll be a granny in no time, rising early for 9am-5pm work and getting to bed by 10:30pm, venturing out mainly on the weekends. Speaking of weekends, I hope everyone has great plans for the Victoria Day Long Weekend! Me? I'm heading to Montreal for the first time. Yes, I've suffered enough ridicule on the sheltered life I live, but I'm hoping to change all of that this summer :)

Exams are finally over and summer is here! While I wish the weather would get the memo already, I'm confident that this summer will be one of the best, not to mention possibly the last! It's intimidating to think that this time next year many of us will be graduating, seeking full time jobs, beginning our careers... Ack! So for the next couple weeks I'll be trying to update and do as much as possible before I start working full-time for the summer. I finished at the University of Toronto and Mitsubishi last month, and I'll be starting at the Ontario Ministry of Labour in a couple weeks! I'm so glad that AX will be nearby, MT, KM, ML, and more will be downtown as well! CL and NC will have returned and with a good chunk of my dearest loves all in the same area, what more could I ask for? Until then... it's time for the long anticipated movie rampage! I'm talking Audrey Hepburn, Harry Potter, and Star Wars marathons. Austin Powers, Intolerable Cruelty, Momento, The Princess Bride, Grind, Little Rascals, and more. I just had a semi-Lord of the Rings Marathon the other day with JS, but we didn't get to the third! Picnics, bike trail rides, adventures. Touristy expeditions and wandering around the city. Patios, wings, beer, bellinis, macarons, reading and tanning days. I hope everyone else has fared the exam storm well! More frequent posts from now on, I promise!

Happy belated birthday to my love MT and an early happy birthday to my dearest KM! MT and I share an undying love for Caramel Crunch Cake, so I bought her one for her birthday! KM wanted a custom cake but we figured instead we decided to make her a BOYFRIEND CAKE. One day a boyfriend will perform all those romantic duties she so delicately demands, I mean, asks of us. MT and SX came over early Friday morning to bake and indulge in pork bone soup. Unfortunately SX forgot to put our lovely Boyfriend Cake in the fridge and his figure did not survive. KM held her birthday at Mansion this year, and as you can see from the photos she was very happy all night long. I wasn't planning on going to the club, but RG makes a mean argument and promised to get me home early, which he did.

In search for my long lost copy of The Catcher in the Rye, I came across undiscovered treasures! I LOVE the regal look of these editions, even though I already copies of some of them. I can't wait to indulge in their cobwebbed pages. So far I've reread Where the Heart is and finished The Penelopiad, which I enjoyed. It's an interesting twist to the story of Odysseus told from Penelope's view. It reminds me of Wicked (Wizard of Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West, man I love alliteration); I'm still dying to see the musical.
The weather is lovely so I'm basking in the warm sun while tackling some international law case studies. Exam time is fast approaching! Gearing up for the grind. Best of luck to all!

University of Toronto Model Parliament at the Ontario Legislature at Queen's Park; Party leader discussions post Chamber; curly hair; CAISA after-party at UWO

The other week I participated in UTMP, and was the party leader for the NDP. I'm not actually an NDP supporter, but I enjoyed playing the role. Our party ended up taking down the PC minority government and forming a coalition with the Liberals. If you fell asleep during that sentence, it's fine. I'm used to it. In any case, I met a lot of great people at UTMP and hope to see them again soon! It was hilarious how much Charlie Sheen was incorporated into the sessions; from passing notes to the other delegates with jokes or passing private bills to make the PC party the official bi-winning party, etc.
The following weekend I went to visit my good friend AX at UWO, which I'd been meaning to do since first year. Two years later... finally. It was great to crash on her couch and spend time with AX, her BF and her roommates. A big thanks to them all for taking care of me! The classy lady I am rolled my ankle that night... Don't ask how. And to DK for driving ARC, SH and I to London on Saturday! I had so much fun with all of them and hope to do it again soon!

Crunch time is coming up so don't mind if I go MIA. My outfits really aren't that interesting now anyway; it's all study gear: leggings, men's Helmut Lang or Alternative Apparel t-shirts with a belt, all swathed in a sweater cocoon of some sort.

Reading week was fantastic. I went out every day and every night. I don't know how I survived, I've got tiger blood going through my veins. Ha. If anyone saw Charlie Sheen's interview, they'd know what I'm talking about. The photos don't even cover half of my activities, but hopefully they give you an idea of what went down... non-stop eating! I highly recommend the cupcakes at Bobbette & Belle and Cupcake Lane. They were both perfectly moist, though I prefer Bobbette & Belle. Recommended by BS, Cupcake Lane is great but quite far. And the B&B icing is where it's at Moxie's turkey club reminds me of the great sandwiches my mommy used to make me for lunch. Great choice by BD, Remezzo's meat lover's pizza makes my mouth water. Today I tried Insomnia Cafe's 8oz burger with CC. Amazing. Add sauteed mushrooms, chedder and bacon; you won't regret it. Throw in a Bloody Caesar with it; perfection. Also I finally found an Asian hairdresser that doesn't thin out my hair. Win. Thanks MT for the suggestion!
I hope everyone had an amazing reading week! Only a few more weeks of school left... This year really flew by. Oh man, I'm getting a little nostalgic already...

Enjoying an early start to reading week. Also had some fun with Instagram, a photo editing application for the iPhone. The filters helped disguise my tired eyes. Pickle Barrel bellini's are huge! The caramel crunch cake was surprisingly good. Ruelo macarons did not rock my world. They were too tiny and chewy. Not in the good way. La Bambouche triumphs, even Pusateri's. Maybe it was just a poor batch, as I've heard some decent reviews. I much prefer the ones I made, but maybe I'm just being biased. No wait I probably am. Wish Cafe was a cute experience. The second fork in the photo was not used. I was not willing to share. That day I also saw a movie at the Bell Lightbox; gorgeous building, I can't wait to go again.
I like this macaron and high tea fad; can't wait to see what's next! Last night on the way home was discussing the probable rise of Kaji with MT and Papa MT. I would pay $85 a head for quality sushi, it's definitely a place I want to try soon.
Call me crazy but I think I may actual read during reading week. Papers won't write themselves and Global Brief won't promote itself. Excited for tonight but no mentions can be made yet as it's a surprise not intended for me!

Made some chocolate covered strawberries (for myself, obviously) but felt generous so packaged some for a few friends. Grabbed dinner with JHP today after class as we both have been craving Buk Chang's and Menchie's! As you can tell I really loaded up. Peanut butter, pumpkin, green apple and original tart frozen yogurt topped with assorted gummies, mochi, brownies, and cinnamon apples. Yum!

I purchased a few new pairs of shoes in the last month or so, just thought I'd post them up. I have been shopping lately but haven't had a chance to take a photo of an outfit. Last time I asked a friend to take a photo, he laughed and thought I was joking. Then he walked away.

Few things to explain:

- My brother went to Beijing, China to teach English until June 2011. As a result, I have purloined not only his Herman Miller chair, but his humidifier, books and some of his sweaters.

- Coffee Culture has great coffee. However try not to go during lunch time if you do not want to be exposed to a swarm of happy, hyper teenyboppers from the nearby school.

- I've recently switched over to the Flip Team from Sales at Club Monaco. Flip team reorganizes the store to accommodate the new inventory. The photo is proof of my first successful 6pm-3am flip. Our group of four was responsible for two zones of menswear, the photo is just part of it.

- I really suck at bowling

You may have noticed the crappy iPhone pictures. I traded my (December) Blackberry Torch with my cousin for his iPhone 4, which needs to be unlocked. Unfortunately I'm with Rogers and Bell (scoundrels) has been giving me the run-around and I guess I must wait...I realize I've gone through more phones these past six months than my whole life. I blame it all on that one eventful Halloween night.

Also, as self-deprecating and silly as I may be, I have a professional side. (Insert sarcastic cough or awkward silence here). No, really. I've recently started working for my professor, the editor of Global Brief Magazine. Global Brief is both an online platform and a print world affairs magazine; Canada’s 21st century answer to The Economist, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Le Monde Diplomatique and a host of other world-class international affairs media platforms. Welcome 2011!

I can definitely say that this has been the best holiday yet. It has been completely filled with friends, family, food, and fun. Just about every day I've been out and about, returning home completely exhausted. I'm taking this week to relax, work, and get focused again for the upcoming semester. Laser quest, sneaking into a friends house to put presents under the tree, shisha parties, dance central, family jams, new years... just to name a few great memories that have come from this holiday. I'm so thankful for everything and everyone in my life. I hope you all can say the same.
Did anyone make any new years resolutions? I'm making mine now! I will...
- deep condition and use a cleansing shampoo at least once a month; shop less; maintain last year's exercise schedule; study harder and smarter; not hold on to any negative energy.

Here's to leaving the past in the past and making what you can right for the new year, here's to old friends and new friends, to new beginnings.

MF provided me sustenance on my birthday library mission. What a sweetheart. Mini birthday celebrations during exam time, I'm a sucker for bellinis. My workplace took the role of a Russian Bank for a day, St. Joseph Street became little Moscow for the filming of a television series, XIII. Cute dogs, the first one being mine (he's so fluffy), and the second belonging to a student who came into the Registrar. He matches my blazer. Yeah, we're cool. Outfit for The Nutcracker ballet with MF: CM camel blazer and silk crop top and tights and headband, Marciano shorts, Jeffrey Campbell wedges. Sunday Christmas Brunch with the girls. Matching gift from KM. Cute chocolates from PM that hardly survived a day. DZ stranded in the Go for Tea parking lot while seven of us tried to figure out how to jump start her car with mine. We got freaked when DF took the cables off in the wrong order and sparks started to fly! Homemade Berry Thumbprint Shortbread by yours truly. Best soup base name ever at Made in China, can you figure it out? Mango pudding eating contest between PL, CC, DF and I. Loser would have had to eat that raw egg. I totally would have won if CC didn't call for a tie due to later plans of drinking at Bar+. I love late nights, drunken piggy back rides, running around downtown with friends followed by too much fun til 4am at NC's condo and pork bone soup Owl's.

Half my break is gone already, I've spent most of it going out and working! It's Christmas Eve already! Currently jamming to Daft Punk, waiting on my brother so I can run some errands and meet up with BM. Watched Tron last week with JA in IMAX 3D, my first time! The soundtrack is fantastic. The next few days are full of Christmas dinners with each side of the family and friends. Plans to see Black Swan soon as well, I heard it's awesome.

Welcome winter break! Yesterday I wrote my last final for the year 2010! I know I finished super early, but remember guys, I started midterms/finals three weeks ago! So I went through all the same crazy time everyone else did, but earlier! I can't wait to sleep in, work out, read, and catch up with friends this holiday. Oh, and work. I haven't really been in the mood for shopping lately, to be honest. I've been more concerned with the politics of China and the break of the USSR and is the Robarts Starbucks line going to be super long. I went shopping yesterday and got only a few things: camel blazer, camel cashmere hobo gloves, numerous tights, knit leggings, a scarf, and a belt. I'm in love with the blazer and will be posting it asap! The night before my exam a few people from my study group and I had a sleep over! I know that sounds really lame (because we all know I am), but I liked it! For once I wasn't staying at a friend's because of clubbing/drinking/partying in general. We spent the night reviewing and woke up and reviewed again over coffee. I love my friend's building! It's just east of Yonge and Charles, I never noticed it before.

As a belated celebration of my birthday (this past Monday), I went to watch Harry Potter and had dinner with SX, KM, and the Ye brothers last night. I thought the movie was darker, but funnier. I'm probably going to cry after the next one. I mean, it was the coming of age series of my childhood! I still remember when my brother told me to buy the Philosopher's Stone at the Scholastic Book Sale in Grade 6. Hermionie and I went through puberty together. Big things. Speaking of big things, last night the bellini I got was HUGE! It was awesome. I love things in jumbo size. Yes, I know that can be construed into dirty ways. Dirty jokes are the best.
Side note: I bought another Blackberry Torch! I'm going to sell the Blackberry Bold I got. It was my sort-of birthday and Christmas present to myself :) What can I say, I really missed the touch screen.
I know it sounds sad but I spent my birthday in the library. I had to work on my International Law Midterm Case Study. I was actually laughing as I was reading it. I love when profs make assignments funny, but not corny. My prof is the former Attorney General, Michael Bryant. I must say aside from being very well-spoken and good-humored, he's got amazing style! I wish I snagged a photo of a few of his suits. He really knows how to work fun colors and stripes. He only taught half of the course, as goes all year old. Next semester is Irvin Studin! I met him at the Globe IMC Conference, along with Dave Wilkin as shown above. Please excuse my extremely tired looking face. I plan to remedy that this holiday. I'm thoroughly impressed with Dave. Not just being he's a 22 year old CEO, but because he's got great balance in his life that I aspire to gain one day. You'd think that someone in his position would be one of those "bound to have a mid-life crisis" kids, because they grew up too fast, but not at all. He manages to run a company, study, network, work out, and still have a social life outside of work.
So, I must explain the car. I was driving east on the 401 Express, on the way to the airport to pick my brother up, when I saw some random debris flying out at me. I kept my cool, logically head (but I was freaking out, screaming after "ZOMG AH AH AH"), and let it hit me. So here's a warning to watch out guys, and keep your head on straight! The damage could have been much worse or someone could have gotten hurt. Be careful on the roads out there and bust out those snow tires!

After I posted this photo I got a ton of comments from my friends, numerous being inappropriate! AHEM do my brother and I look so different that people thought he was a new boyfriend?! Ick. Earlier this month my brother graduated from UofT! My mom and I attended the ceremony and after we went to Asian Legend where I finally satisfied my soup dumpling craving! Speaking of satisfying cravings, I also finally hit up Ajisen for ramen, and Okonomi House as well. What can I say, I love food. I would have taken photos but as soon as it was in front of me my mouth started to water and I was nonsensical.
Last weekend I attended the two-day Globe International Management Conference at Schulich. I was pretty much the only Uoft/non-business attendee. Everyone asked why I attended. I figured, why not? My friend is on the Exec team and asked me if I wanted to be an Ambassador so I said sure. It seemed like it'd be a cool experience; it was definitely out of my comfort zone (I mean, Schulich, ew! Kidding), and I really enjoyed it! On the first day we had workshops and some keynote speakers. The night the social was a dinner at O.Noir, where we ate in the dark, and then the Cinderella performance at the National Ballet School. I loved the ballet! O.Noir was an interesting experience; I would definitely want to go back again, but on a date not in a large group. The second day was a case-competition. Everyone got really into it and surprisingly so did I! At night we had dinner at the Duke of Westminister.
Crunch time for the next three weeks! Can't believe this school year is nearly half done! Time is seriously flying by. I know I've been irregular with postings, but come December I'll be good, I promise :)

Really quick post because I am extremely important and busy. AKA I have homework. This month is going to be hectic.
Halloween I predrank with my uni friends then hopped over to XS with my high school friends. Needless to say it would have been a fabulous night if I hadn't lost my phone! And my jacket! And probably my dignity at some point! Joking. But really, I never lost a phone before so this is a first. I was pretty upset, but material things (among many other things...) are all replaceable.

I had some cute outfit pics on it too since the weather was warmer last week, but now it's dropped to the minuses! Brrr! I'm in desperate need of a new winter jacket.
Suggestions? I was looking at the Canada Goose Monte Bello one in a shiny-matte black. I know everyone has a Goose but it's warm and I'm lazy!
Random rant: I really think that honesty is a form of respect. I know it's hard for some people to tell the truth but really, in the end it will all catch up. And when you think you got away with it? Just wait. People feel bad sometimes because at times the truth may hurt the person, but really, "I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you" - Friedrich Nietzsche.

Need I apologize again for my absence? Can I play the three jobs card? It'll be code for really lazy and tired all the time. So lazy that to substitute for my words I'll use photos, but first and foremost, I got a blackberry! I just switched from the iPhone to the Blackberry Torch a couple weeks ago and I'm hooked! Maybe it's just the fact that I have data now, but I like it a lot. I wanted the iPhone 4 awhile ago, but since it was tough at the time to get one, and I know more Blackberry users than iPhone users, I switched. I know I'm such a sheep, but really, who am I going to facetime with? My brother? No thanks.
Since I rarely carry a camera anywhere, I heavily rely on others for photos or my phone pictures. I wish I could be heavy duty and tote around a sick SLR or something, but I probably wouldn't use it.

School finally started the other week on the 13th! Which would explain why I haven't blogged in awhile... but really we all know that it's just because I'm just a magnificently lazy person. Shhh, keep it on the DL. I took a few extra courses to "shop around" this year for the first time and finally decided on four of the initial six Political Science courses and one English. It sucks because I made one friend in the two I dropped! However I dropped them with good reason, one was WAY too much work (I told you I was lazy) and the other one not only had a horrible time slot and a boring topic but a professor I couldn't understand. She had a really thick accent. I'm not even joking!

The last couple weeks have been pretty busy. Work, school, library, commute, all that good stuff. Initially, I was trying to decide between Club Monaco or Mitsubishi once school started, however I managed to work out my schedule to fit the two... and my new job at St. Mike's. I work in the registrar; yes, I'm that chick that you ask questions and answers with a blank stare. I kid (not). The other day I accessed ROSI from the "other" side. I felt like I was in the Matrix, the software is so old school and was all black and green. Everyone calls me a nutter for having three jobs while attending school full time, but I think with good planning it's manageable. However if I have a nervous break down halfway through the year I grant everyone permission say "I told you so".

Thursday was ex-roomie Teresa's birthday! We went to dinner at Tappo's, in the Distillery District. I can't believe I've lived in Toronto all my life and there are certain areas I never went to. Scarborough stole my soul along with my sense of adventure! I always wanted to go to the Distillery Distract, but it always seemed so far and out of the way. It's pretty cute, I'll go back during the day and take cheesy photos like the tool I am. I stole these photos from my friend Nini. There were actually seventeen of us, but not enough camera time to go around.

I've always wanted to start wearing heels more. I tell myself that every year, but, again, lazy. I'm in love with Michael Kors ones. The two pairs I have are both extremely comfortable and easy to walk in, however not that practical for the chilly weather coming up. I realized I'm wearing the same Habituals in most of these photos. I'm happy to say that they are now one of the few that fit (in the good way)! Today on the way home from work I drove EXTRA slow and took the time to admire the amazing foliage developing around my neighborhood. I love autumn! I wish it lasted longer though. I love the leaves, light fall jackets, tights under skirts or shorts, boots, apple cider, and pumpkin pie.

Speaking of pumpkin pie, my aunt gave me the rest of it after our family dinner today and it's pretty much calling too me. Right now. Yum...

The last week before school starts for me and summer is as good as done. This week I'm working everyday. As a matter of fact, I'm at work right now. I'd like nothing more than to crawl back into my warm little bed with my warm little dog and sleep until I can't sleep anymore. After work instead of going home I was thinking of maybe hitting up the mall to stock up on some menswear that I know will come into good use during the school year. Is it just me or are men's sweaters warmer? What an injustice. Now I can see why girls steal their boyfriend's sweaters, not only does it look cute but it's warm and often smells like them.

I've been out and about as much as possible, savouring the last bits of freedom. My self-imposed prison begins soon after school starts. Excuse me, while I pretend to be extremely important and busy at work

Shaved ice with condensed milk & mango

This past week I've been out nearly every day or working. I love it. After Wednesday's lunch I intended to go Go Karting but instead ended up at Go For Tea. Restless after some awesome shaved ice with condensed milk and mango, we all ended up at a friend's house where they played Mah Jong. I tried to understand but, I failed. Thursday was another super Asian day. I met up with a friend with the initial intention of trying out Good Life Fitness but we ended up having Thai with our friend for lunch then working out at her condo downtown. We all met up with others and went to Echo at Spadina and Dundas for karaoke happy hour! To top it off, Pho Train. Mmm! I had lunch with Kathy on Friday. She's finally back in Toronto for her work term! I just realized today that we've known each other for nearly 7 years! It's pretty funny how we met, actually. We spotted each other across the hall during a History 3 exam for piano, and recognized each other from our mutual friends photos and some how started talking on Zuup. After lunch we took Pilate out to the park near my house. As you could see he was very happy.

This coming week I'm working pretty much everyday again! I love being busy. My uncle also said he'd install some shelves in my closet for me sometime this week. I can't wait to reorganize my closet. I'm looking for another bookshelf since the one I have is getting pressingly full. I've only recently gotten into buying books. I was one of those library geeks until I starting getting fines up the wazoo. Whoops. I actually love going to BMV in the Annex downtown to peruse through books. I need to find some more used/cute bookstores to hit up so I may continue building my collection.

I can't believe it's more than halfway through August already! School's coming up fast and I'm stoked. This morning I was screwing around a little with my course timetable. Because that's what I do when I'm bored. I think of ways how to improve my life and existence. I ended up dropping the two 'easy' courses I had and took more political science ones. How's my schedule look now? 100% polisci. Excited! I hope I'll still feel that way during the year... as opposed to planning to check into the crazy lady clinic for having consciously selected all those courses in the first place.
Yesterday I abused my Club Monaco discount a decent amount. The pieces will make appearances soon, I swear. I still can't get over my "I feel dumb and probably look way more dumb than I feel" feeling when I take outfit photos. Sorry I'm not as confident as the of you all.

I really want a new purse, the take some of the heat off that white one above that I always tote around. It's a decent size but I want something a bit bigger so I can fit a book and a bottle of water.

Today I grabbed lunch at Joey's Restaurant with an old friend. He's one of those buddies where even though you don't talk for a long time, you can pick up exactly where you left off. We've known each other for about five years, and we have this ongoing joke (and reality) where we hang out once a year. However the decision as been made to change that.

Sometimes it's going to be days like this: Thai food for lunch and lazing around all day in bed. I'm pretty sure we spent way too much time in Nini's bed than usual for a group of three who did absolutely nothing all day long. The lack of work has sent me downtown more than usual and I love it. This past year my friends' condo has been the main meet up/hang out spot. The location is so convenient; I'll be sad if/when they move out this year.

Grabbed a movie and ice cream with a friend earlier this week. I love late night ice cream and aimless walks, but maybe not so much downtown. My previous random neighbourhood walks/bubble tea with friends have become less frequent due to all our conflicting schedules. I can't believe summer's almost over. August came without a word and this time next month I'll be back in the library slaving over a dense course package and a laptop.

Get ready for a slew of cheesy Harry Potter Exhibition photos next week. My neighbour has agreed to snap all those precious moments, in exchange for the dare of wearing a costume. I think he's joking. Maybe not.

Friday night I went out with my neighbour, Jason (who prefers throwing pebbles at my window to knocking on my door) and his friends for some kickass poutine downtown at Smoke's. It was my first time and I wish I snagged a picture, but I was too hungry. The scent coming from my chili poutine was mouthwatering and I all but inhaled it on the spot. His friend knew a great spot with a a sick view of the city sky line so we hopped on over there to bask in the view and poutine goodness.

This is a pretty crappy shot. Sorry. I wish I got the rest of the view. I'm missing some of the buildings around Bloor to the right. I had work Saturday at 8am, but the late night was definitely worth it.

Saturday night I tried Hollywood Gelato at Bayview and Eglinton, suggested to me by Bahar earlier today. I would definitely recommend it to everyone! It's always packed apparently, a good sign, and there are tons of flavours!

While I love sunny days with temperatures ranging from the mid to high 20s, Toronto weather is just killing me. Why? Because I prefer to drink water, not inhale it. Yes, I stole that line from Twilight. Eat that. Usually when it's hot here, it's also very humid, and humidity is not my friend. It gets your hair all frizzy, yet oily. Your skin sticky and icky. You get that uncomfortable feeling of unsticking your clothing from your body when you stand up. Gross.

Last Friday my friend Steph was having her birthday at Wetbar, a rooftop patio club on Peter Street. As soon as we got there, we all died. It was disgustingly hot. I felt like my hair was going to melt. I don't know how I stayed up there the whole time, while most others escaped to Suite 106 below throughout the night. Aside from the sweat fest, it was a really fun night. There were so many of us from A.C.I., it was like one big reunion. Some of my uni friends showed up as well and it was great seeing them as well.

I'm going to try to hustle some more photos from other people. I didn't bring my camera because 1) I was lazy 2) we were in a rush. I feel like the one from marquee media maked us look so pale and makeupless. Too much light exposure? I have no idea about photography, but that's what my friend told me and I guess I'll go with it until proven wrong.

The morning after clubbing I had work at 8am and surprisingly I made it! I was exhausted the whole day though, and didn't even make it out later than night to another party I was hoping to catch. McDonald's forgot my egg in my Sausage Egg McMuffin so I was pretty cheesed. Thankfully one of the sales guys got me another on his way in. Yes, I ate both of them.

I keep forgetting to take outfit pictures. I'm the epitome of lazy. I'm so bored of taking photos in my room. Plus there's no one but Pilate to take photos for me, and he's lacking the opposable thumbs.

Yesterday I tried my friend's Kiss Me Heroine mascara that she got in China. The consensus? FRIGGIN' AMAZING! I love it! I'm going to ask my friend to bring it back from Hong Kong for me, and my brother to pick some up as well. Apparently you can get it for $20 here at Pacific Mall, or $10-$15 in Asia. Either way I'd rather get my friend in HK to get it, because shopping (as opposed to perusing) in Pacific Mall gives me a headache. A really big one, where I have the impulse to find the closest pair of chopsticks and stab my eyes. Okay maybe I'm being a little dramatic.

The only problem I have is that it is so difficult to take off. Usually my Lancome Bi-Facial make up remover can tackle the most heinous of waterproof makeup, but this time I needed two or three tries to get it completely off.

When I was a kid my dad would tell me that reading will make my brain bigger. Of course I believed him. Even now, I love to read. Surprisingly a lot of people don't. They have a lot of reasons to not read, and I understand. Life gets busy. You've got work, school, friends, significant others, etc. I find reading to be a great escape from all of that.

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

A friend of mine lent this book to me and I'm hooked. I may just end up not giving it back. Ha. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It's a great read; well written and inspirational. Most of the lessons he tries to teach us are things we already know, but most of the time refuse to listen to, take to heart, or just stay between our ears. It's different reading something and hearing it from your parents. Or maybe I'm just a rebellious kid. The nerdy Star Wars, Star Trek, space travel and Disney references/examples got my inner nerd purring like a kitten.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

I read this book in Grade 12, but found the need to reread it since I found another (prettier!) copy in my basement. It's a great story; very simply translated but well written. Another inspirational book, I'm addicted to them lately. Bear with me. I just find the idea of completely starting your life over to chase after your dream to be amazing. Courageous. Tempting.

I found all these in the basement. They all belong to my brother. I hope he doesn't mind that I've taken them... But they've been laying around in neglect for the past 3 years so I don't think he'll miss them. I already own some of the books, but really, you can't have too many copies of Frankenstein or The Odyssey.

I'm digging the back of this dress, and racerbacks in general. The straps initially kept slipping off so I decided to sew together the straps.

This week has been unbearably hot! It "felt" like 41, not to mention the fact that the air conditioning broke here at home. I've been melting! It doesn't help that my room always seems to be the warmest in the summer and coolest in the winter. I started at Club Monaco this past week, my first attempt at retail! It's close to home so it makes things a lot easier for me. I never thought I'd say I was tired of driving, until now. New job, new start? I'm trying this three week cleanse. No, not food. Just, you know, life. I'll let you know how it goes.

We've all got lists in our lives, right? The things we want to do, what to buy, places to go, people to see, the qualities in a guy we want... Right now my what to buy list is becoming a bit consuming and battling heavily with my rationality. One thing that's for sure is that I really want these clogs.

Music post? I like it.

Lately I've been really into all the old stuff from my early high school or junior high days. What can I say, oldies are goodies (and we haven't even touched 80s music yet!). I think of all the people that influenced my taste in music at that age, the most prominent two would be my brother's friend, Adam, who I thought was the coolest kid ever with his chunks of bright pink hair, and my cousin. Listening to 102.1 The Edge in the carpool to school contributed as well, of course.

These aren't in any particular order, and also just came off the top of my head right now. There are many more, of course, but it's a pretty difficult feat to remember all of the artists you adored when you were in junior high. I know I'm missing quite a few albums in between and here and there. I wasn't completely into one genre of music, alternative, rock, whatever you want to call it. I've always been a fan of so many artists from The Beatles to Usher, but at this very moment I'm relishing these few past loves and realize how far I've come.

Earlier last week my friends and I went to Milestones for a little girls night, though not the commercialized one on Mondays, in celebration of my dear friend's birthday the day of. Later this week will be the traditional club scene celebration. If no one recognizes the animal in my arms above, FYI, it's my dog. He got a nice little haircut last month. I was introducing him to the ants on the trees. He wasn't happy. Plus I needed a shot of the back of my dress. I ordered it online sometime ago but never really wore it.

My friend took me to a great burger joint at Yonge and College called W Burger last week. Mmm hello salmon burger and 50/50 regular and sweet potato fries! I've walked by this place so many times never noticing that it was there. I always paid more attention to the Starbucks beside it. I'm still loyal even though I'm no longer an employee. I can't help it, I've been brainwashed! The amazing benefits and fabulous treatment from the company has scarred me forever.

Rainy days are great for a nice cup of tea and a great book. I've been reading Anna Karenina on my iPhone thanks to my BookShelf App, but after awhile I opted for the print instead after awhile. I love the feel of the soft pages in my hands and the weight of it. Hardcovers annoy me sometimes, but I hate how dog-eared soft covers get over time. I love soft leather bound books. It's got such a regal feel to it.

I got this last week at Sephora. I heard amazing things about it and I want to start building my makeup collection :) I've never tried concealer, foundation, etc before so I'm pretty excited.

I took out the music. I got frustrated with it when I was editing here and there, however, I will start book reviews/music suggestion posts ranging from Blondie to The Clash to Blink182... Not that I'm a huge music freak, but I enjoy a wide variety.

I finally got my laptop back, from being broken for ages. Oh how I've missed it. I'm not using it now, but I will start tomorrow once I find that little USB to transfer all my files over. I feel bad calling my laptop "it". He deserves a name. I'm making my laptop a he merely because I can. Most guys name their cars and prized possessions after women. I named my snowboard Sweet Lou. Five points if you guess what movie that's from! Laptop can be named Dave, after Dave Rygalski. Another five points if you get that one, (though it's not from a movie).

Yes, I like naming inanimate objects. It's my thing.

Hello homemade chocolate macarons!

I feel like I've been cooped up at home for the past week! I've only been out a few times with friends, but other than that it's just been work and cleaning.

Yesterday I spent the day hanging out with a couple friends, and tanning in my backyard. I hope I got darker... The weather was fabulous yesterday it's a shame we only got an hour in before I had to jet off to work. On the other hand, I actually bought a new self tanner. So I'll try that sometime in the coming week.

Clinique Self Sun Body Daily Moisturizer

I've always used Lancome Flash Bronzer, but I just wanted to try something new (and cheaper). Speaking of cheaper, I used coupons for the first time ever this past week! I got a little booklet of Rexall coupons in the mail and used two for nail polish and a mascara to tide me over until I decide which to get next. Suggestions? If not it's Dior (blackout) once more.

The Nicole for O.P.I. is my favourite at the moment. It's such an adorable pink shade, I may just wear it all summer! I'll post a photo soon.

Happy Long Weekend!

Went to my first Hindu wedding this weekend! It was actually quite interesting. I kept the ceremony program as a souvenir; there are so many steps! It all took place in Brampton and I had to get up early since it started at 10. The whole thing extended into the reception at 6, but we left after the lunch and came back for cocktail hour. I always wondered about wedding etiquette. When the ceremony and reception have a large few hour gap, do you wear the same outfit to the reception as the ceremony? The last wedding I went to where there was a few hours gap I was a bridesmaid, so I didn't have to change. This time, I wore two different dresses but I wasn't sure if most people do.

I actually got this dress in grade 9! I wore it to our music banquet once and never again. I found it in my closet and it still fits so I wore it. HA, told you I was tanned.

I prefer it without the belt, but Ed liked it so I just wore it. I love the shoes though! They are my favourite at the moment. Perfect for summer and so comfortable. Thanks, Ed! Most of the night I wore my hair up but I started getting a hair-pin headache so I took it out. It takes a lot of pins to hold up my hair since it's long now. I'm to try to grow it out to my waist. Today Ed, Jeff and I went to Pacific Mall, since it was pretty much the only thing open around here. I love mango slush bubble tea! I haven't really been into shopping so I just tagged along with the guys, looking at phones, car stuff, and all that. Ed did get me a Baby Foot though! I've always wanted to try it, so tonight I will!

The photo on the box is actually quite gross looking, but if it makes my feet amazingly soft, I'll try it. Ed's mom recommended it and she said it was excellent. I also tried this candy at P-mall. I don't know what it's called, but I like it.

Yum. I couldn't resist eating it before I got home. Besides, I wanted Ed and Jeff to have some. Since my family is from India, we do enjoy Indian food! Tonight's dinner was fabulous. My mom made paratas and kabob.

My uncle has perfected the art of kabobs and usually he makes them, but this time my mom did and they were fabulous. We also usually just buy paratas but my mom made them from scratch instead for the first time in about 8 years. I love them! I packed a few for dinner tomorrow at work :). Thanks, Mom and Dad!

I suck at consistent blogging. Better than some, but compared to many others, I suck. I probably don't blog more because my life isn't all that interesting at the moment. It's been work, driving, work, driving more, going out here and there. I haven't even been shopping unless necessary, and by this I mean getting new shampoo, flash tape, candy, food. The good stuff. I've been trying to break the habit of washing my hair everyday (note Brunny photo below, sad face) and looking for new hair products besides baby powder that will be my friend without making my hair look dusty to replace my T3 dry shampoo. No success yet.

Trip to La Bamboche:

The place was great. It was adorable. Many elderly folk lounging about with the paper enjoying croissants and other pastries, Parisian staff (unless my French education fails me), and a lovely case of macarons, one of my favourite desserts. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a dessert snob. Hell, I love pudding. Maybe a bit of a coffee snob (thanks, two years of employment at Starbucks), but just barely. I'm not one of those chicks that heard about macarons on gossip girl and must jump on the bandwagon. I just saw them at Pusateri's last summer when shopping for a snack for my summer class and decided to try it. We know I can't resist colourful foods. Or shiny things. I can't tell a fabulous macaron from a good macaron. I'm not picky. I just eat.

Still not completely used to blogging photos, so of course I try to be more awkward than usual, snap a shot and go with it.

I'm not digging the pale appearance of the legs. I tanned earlier this week and I swear it looks darker in person. I slathered on the SPF 50 and lay out on my balcony for a couple hours. SPF 50 sounds really intense, but I read an article the other day in Fashion Magazine that finds frequent tanning, including occasional visits to the beds at a salon, is very bad for you. You might as well have "unprotected sex with heroin addicts while smoking three packs a day". My inner nerd is telling me to cite that quote. Karen Von Hahn, "Burn, Baby, Burn", Fashion Magazine Summer 201, yadi, yadi yada. They recommend SPF 30 but I had SPF 50 laying around the house. I had to make do.

The only shot of more than 3 people I have! Clearly, I'm not an avid photo-taker. That was my first time at the U of T bar. I don't think I'll be going back for some time. It was all right... Pretty messy, to say the least, and thankfully it wasn't because of me this time! I was the designated driver.

Snake Print Hunters!

It's absolutely gorgeous outside! The temperature isn't high but the sun is out and shining brightly and I'm sitting at a desk. However I can still bask in the beauty siince half the walls are glass and I'm surrounded by shiny cars, not to mention Canada's Wonderland! The rides and running and I'm aching to be on one. I used to go nearly every week when I was younger. My dad always got me a season's pass. The best time to go was when it was raining because the lines were short! I still remember when I was in Grade 9 and I skipped school with a friend to go and we got stranded! Good memories.

Today before work I had breakfast at Cora's with an old high school friend. Mmm I love Cora's! I'm a total sucker for brekafast food. Pancakes make me weak in the knees. I wish I took photos but I was so hungry I just scarfed my Cora's Breakfast Special down in a flash. Before I came in I took my car over to Nissan so that Mario could take a peek at the bumper damage, as I got rear-ended the other day on my way to Baton Rouge. It turns out I will probably have to get a whole new bumper! Is it weird that I feel bad asking the person to pay for it? He was so kind, ensuring I had his proper information and that I was all right. I've seen enough screaming matches at the side/middle of the road when and accident happens. Ed went to Niagara today so when he gets back we'll take it toone of the bodyshops to get an assessment. Hopefully he'll be able to pull some string and get a good deal. If I were to rear-end someone from a dealership and they had the power to do so I'd like that. Karma,yo.

My aunt from Cali came up for a visit and later this week her daughter is as well! I haven't seen her since the Lion King came out. I remember she was the one that took my brother and I to watch it. I still tear up when Simba's dad is trampled. My uncle is having a BBQ and on Sunday we might go to the AGO with all (most, at least) of the cousins! My brother might plan it for Saturday (prick!), which is when I can't go, since I'm working. I can't wait to meet her husband and son! Fingers crossed for Sunday!

The two part-time jobs have been in full effect this past week. Not that I'm complaining. I'm ecstatic to be busy. Friday and Saturday both I worked about 7.5 hours at Mitsubishi and then 4 or 5 at Baton Rouge. Luckily this is probably the only time that's going to happen, and I'm happy to be working period.

Last Saturday Mel and I met up with Ed, Jeff, and Ben for dinner at Oliver & Bonacini and shisha. We always end up going to the same place at Yonge and Finch. Before dinner Mel and I made a Wal-Mart run and came across a real treasure... Lip Smackers! The lip balm of my childhood!

P.S. my hair looks fantastically long! FINALLY, we're going somewhere!

And here I thought that with summer I'd be posting more. Whoops. This past week as been pretty busy. The car has been out and about every day of the week for adventures! I don't even know where to begin...

Monday
I had yumcha with my cousins and aunt. I scored some tasty cookies when passing by a little Chinese bakery. After chauffeuring my brother around, Melissa, Bahar and I made a visit to our old high school where I dutifully teased one of my favorite teachers and took a stroll down memory lane, including Super E Pizza, Food Jungle, and Starbucks. After running into a couple old friends and catching up we met up with another buddy and went for drinks at Moxie's. Have you ever gone to a restaurant and decided... nah... Well that's what happened to us. We weren't really feeling the atmosphere so Bahar suggested another place and we jetted off to Joey's at Shops at Don Mills. I've never been to that mall but I'll be visiting it soon again. Joey's was nice, I couldn't drink since 1) I'm scarred for a few months and 2) I was driving. Poor Roy was couldn't eat anything or drink anything alcoholic since had his wisdom teeth out. Overall it was a fun night, good talks, good times.
Tuesday
I had a job interview at Baton Rouge and went for the $5 movie special with Melissa. We watched The Last Song, and neither of us cried. I'm not going to lie, I actually did like it.
Wednesday
Melissa and I went to Fairview to shop and apply for jobs and ran into a bunch of high school friends, again! At home we tried out Mel's new nail polish and watched the latest episode of One Tree Hill. WHAT IS THIS? Sara's doppelganger needs to get out of there. Leave Clay alone! Curtis asked us to go for a walk so we strolled over to Agincourt Mall where Mel realized it was 31 cent scoop day at Baskin Robbins. Of course we HAD to go so she and I hopped over to the one in my old neighbourhood. It had a massive line up and we saw another bunch of old friends!
Today
Bahar is leaving for Miami today so she and I went for coffee at my first Starbucks, where I saw my old coworkers :) I haven't had so much Starbucks in the same week since I worked there. I got some shoes for work, my first shift is today at 5 so we'll see how that goes.

I haven't gone to the Harry Potter Exhibition yet. It keeps getting postponed! I will soon though. I'm missing some photos from earlier this week, I'll add them as soon as I get them from my friend. She's smart enough to bring a camera everywhere we go!

FINI FINI! I finally finished my exams last Thursday! It feels amazing to be done with my second year, just halfway through undergrad. It's hard to believe that I'm halfway through this. I'm happy but a little sad, and a little scared! I won't divulge into the details of why, I'm sure it's pretty obvious, especially if you've seen Post Grad, with Alexis Bledel.

After our exam, Ed and I headed over to Bloor Street for some lunch and decided to try Quesada. The steak burrito I had was tasty (particularly since I love guacamole), but it didn't really disagree with my stomach. After our lunch I had a tummy ache that Ed had to repair with an ice cream cone from Laura Second (SUPERKID!!!). I love how I can just be eight years old sometimes!

In the spirit of food, I have to comment on how ridiculous fruits are becoming. Ed's mom bought a couple boxes of strawberries and I've always noticed that they've been getting bigger since I was a kid, but I just really wanted to laugh when I saw these berries. They aren't out-of-the-ordinary huge, but they are BIG! My friend showed me the most ridiculous strawberry EVER, it was the size of her palm and more robust than these babies.

I adore Max. He's so smart looking! He's a bit old now, so much lazier and more into cuddling and chilling, as opposed to playing and walking.

I mentioned earlier my love for Mini Eggs, and I came across the funniest looking one yet!

On Friday I went shopping downtown with Bless, a friend from class. It was great catching up and hanging out, it's been so hectic the past few months so I've barely gotten a chance to see her. Both of us had a hard time getting up for our 9AM classes and whenever I went, she wasn't there and vice versa. What can I say, poetry class can do that to you. We were both craving sushi for lunch so we went on a mission! The original place I wanted to go to, Sushiman, at Richmond and Victoria closed down! So we went hunting and walked alllll the way to Elizabeth and Dundas. We sat down for an all you can eat sushi lunch for $12! The sushi was quick and tasty and the price was just right. I think I've successfully gotten my friend hooked on crunchy spicy salmon rolls. Nom nom nom nom.

Saturday I went out for sushi (again! I can never get tired of it) and shisha. This time I went to Sapporo Sushi at Yonge and Finch with Ed, Jess and her high school friend Tiffany visiting from Boston.

Saturday my dad picked up the car! I haven't gotten a chance to take any photos yet, but I will soon. This weekend I haven't really had an excuse to drive it, so today was it's first day on the town! First I drove around the neighborhood, getting used to the feel of the car, and ended up hanging out with my friend Bahar from high school. Bahar makes me laugh so hard, my cheeks were just killing me today, especially at Starbucks when we ran into Chrysa randomly. The title of this blog is dedicated to her imitations of people today. We also ended up talking about all those cleansing diets, eating veggies and all that good stuff to be fit... And then ended up at Wild Wing.

Today's events got be thinking about the possible greatness of this summer because now I have a car! I would love to go on and on about the greatness of this vehicle but I feel like I will do it an injustice to provide description without photographs, so, more soon!

A few more days! I was planning on waiting until after my last final to blog again, but here I am. I figured a few minutes wouldn't hurt my studying, as that's all I've been doing lately.

There are two things I started to eat more since I started university: sushi and Korean food.

Before first year I had no idea what Korean food was. My high school was pretty populated, however I believe we only had a handful of Koreans and only one that I can think of at the moment. My boyfriend introduced me to Buk Chang in K-town near Christie station and I just can't keep away anymore! I try not to eat it too often (too much MSG), but I thoroughly enjoy it when I go! Kimchi soon du boo (tofu soup aka number 3) is my usual. There is another location in North York near Yonge and Finch. Ed says it's better but I really can't tell, they're both great to me!

Ed is really happy with his latest car. It's great for the summer especially. Too bad it's a gas burner! I can't wait til I get mine. Speaking of which... my dad finally decided to get another car! Saturday we went to Maple Nissan to take a look at a car and it's been decided! This time next week I'm going to be the proud owner of a 2007 Altima sedan! It's in amazing condition with low mileage, leather interior and all the pretty automatic gizmos that come with newer cars. I'm honestly just happy that there will be a vehicle available to me at nearly all times!

This denim jacket was the one I mentioned a couple posts ago; the one I scored for 6 bucks. The tights came in a pack of two, the other was a pair of polka dot ones. Unfortunately after one wear, they frayed at the knees (I was crossing my legs) and a few dots were ripped. The stripped pair is fine, but I really wanted just the polka dot ones so I'm a bit sad that they were the ones to go. I need to find another pair soon.

It's the last two weeks! For me anyway! I end on April 15th, and I'm excited... but not! A little worried, to be honest. Political development is going to be the death of me! I've been studying all day today and since my window is facing this 8 foot window that overlooks the curve of my street and the little patch of trees connected to the park nearly. The weather was gorgeous today, and the temperature mild. It was so hard watching all the activity go about on my street, but of course I couldn't close the blinds since I felt bad for wasting the sunlight and being environmentally unfriendly.

This past week has been hectic! On Monday I had a final and Wednesday two finals. I camped out at Robarts last Sunday with Ed to work on our International Relations papers and to study. Sorry I tend to cut off my head (haha.. Alice in Wonderland) in photos, but I still feel super dorky posing. Alone. Will get over that soon. Also apologize for the fact that it's really dark. I took this photo in a hurry and didn't get a chance to retake.

Friday night was my friend's birthday where we went to Rockwood. I wish I could say that I had an amazing night, but it ended up with me curled up in the bathroom praising a porcelain god. Other than that, it was fun and luckily Ed was there to take care of me all night. I'm swearing off drinking for at least a month! I can never go through that again. Embarrassing, painful, all that good stuff.

I've already read Wuthering Heights but I didn't have my own copy of it for the longest time. Spoiler alert: I was rereading it last night and I couldn't help but empathize for poor young Heathcliff when he was saying never though he could beat up Edgar, he'd never be as good-looking as him. Or when he overhead Catherine say that marrying him would degrade her, but he took off before he could hear her proclamation of eternal love for him. There are so many other parts that just break my heart. In any case, I need to stock up more for this summer! I want to read Alice in Wonderland before I go watch it in theaters, 3D of course! I can't wait to snap a cheesy picture with those rad glasses.

If you haven't listened to Dashboard Confessional's new album, Alter the Ending, GO DO IT NOW! You know how you've got moods for certain kinds of music at times? When ever Dashboard Confessional comes up on my Ipod, it doesn't matter what mood I'm in, I can hear it and feel something stir inside me and I just want to belt out the lyrics and rock out on my air guitar. My imagination wanders and reality slips away. I can't believe I missed them when they came to Toronto on March 18th! I keep kicking my butt for it, but next time I will make sure I go! I've been in love with their music from the beginning and true love lasts a lifetime. Hands Down is my song of love, it has been since the eighth grade.
This weekend is crunch weekend! I've got to finish/finalize 3 finals all due next week, and continue studying for my other finals. I've been applying for summer jobs left right and center. A part of me can't wait until school ends, but then I dread it a bit since I haven't got PLANS. I need plans, at least for the bigger picture of summer itself. I don't mind taking chances and being spontaneous but when it comes to the serious things, I'm anxious to get all the answers I can. I'm going to go gray with worry.
This past week was great! Not only did I get the bulk of the work done for one of my finals, but I got a few new things as well. Tuesday Ed and I had lunch at one of our old spots, The New York Deli on Bay. I used to live on residence near there so we'd always go. Also, I picked up a few things including a denim jacket (for $5.60!) from H&M, a set of moleskin notebooks from Indigo. After lunch we strolled down Yonge over to Cosmetics World and picked up a boar-hair brush, then stopped over at a candy shop and got some sweets! Jelly Bellys and British chocolate! Two of my favs!

On Wednesday Ed and I went to the Green Grotto at Warden and Steeles to do some studying. I actually don't recommend it for studying at all. It's a great place to hang out with friends, read Chinese magazines (which I cannot) and relax. The bubble tea is quite good, I like how they mix big and small ones. You get endless little baskets of popcorn to nibble on and then your usual snacks.

I also picked up the famed Moroccan Oil. I got the hydrating cream. Prior to that I decided to try a cheaper argan oil from Live Clean, but found that as great as it is, it can only be used for damp hair. I tried it when my hair was dry and I couldn't even run my fingers through my hair! My hair was sticky! So I bought the Moroccan Oil, as I wanted something that could be used for both damp or dry, as the weather tends to wreak havoc on my hair, making it dry and full of static throughout the day. I didn't actually wear the heels yesterday, but I just felt like throwing them on as they're a whole lot more exciting than the flat black boots I wore. Plus I really just wanted to break them out. Shabam!

Side note: Ed is so funny. When I went to look at my laptop this morning I found a tenner sticking out of my laptop and a text telling me to get myself a magazine to read for the long subway ride home. It's little things like this that remind me what a catch I have!

And now it is time for me to stop procrastinating and get to work! This sunny day is extremely deceptive, as it's freezing out! I've drawn the blinds and pulled out the books.This year is coming to a close and summer is just calling our names! We've all just got to put in the last bit of work and we're home free! At least until September rolls around again. It's the final stretch and I will all the university students out there to best of luck!

Of course I would name my post after a line in Harry Potter. What kind of fanatic do you think I am? Which reminds me, there is a Harry Potter Exhibition coming to Toronto in May at the Ontario Science Center! I've got my camera ready to take all the cheesy photos I can posing near the props and displays. But seriously, aside from the Harry Potter reference, I do open at the close. The close of this school year! Less than 4 weeks from now I'll be University of Toronto free. I'm still hunting for a summer job. Damn those lucky few that have already got their summers set. This past week has been a failure. As in, my usual schedules and plans were not fulfilled. I don't know why but I had no motivation to study. I've been beating myself up for it, but now I'm trying to just let that negative energy go and focus on what I can do NOW. So I've sworn off going out this weekend, or watching shows or movies when I should be studying. Is it just me or has everyone slowed down on the blogging lately? Myself included. It's understandable as it's really crunch time for all us students. Last weekend I went to dinner and karaoke for my friend's birthday. My first time at karaoke! It was fun, though unfortunately I didn't stay as long as I would have liked.

So it's snowing outside. So much for today being the first day of spring! This past week has been full of days with 16 degrees and up. Yesterday was 18! Hopefully the weather will perk up again soon and I can start wearing heels! One day I'll master wearing them all day downtown. Practice makes perfect.

It's daylight savings on Sunday! Which means this winter is coming to an end. So long dark skies by 4pm and hello gorgeous sunsets until 9pm! Unfortunately it means losing out on an hour of sleep but definitely worth the trade, I think. This week I finished up my term paper for my political development class and I'm ready to relax... But I can't just yet. The end of March is when three of my courses have their finals and I'm really not a crammer so I have to start studying now! I've never tried cramming for a test before. I'm too much of a chicken. I wish I could say it's gotten me very far but U of T doesn't think so and the bell-curve always works against me! Last weekend I went to Lily Lounge for my friend's birthday and well... I'll let the pictures tell the story from here... Elmsley girls! Missing a few but they were there in spirit! Appetizer. Overall it was a pretty fun night. To be honest I didn't like the food at Lily Lounge very much. The live music later in the night was good, unfortunately the birthday girl was in no state to be in a restaurant. I have no idea how she got so plastered, but everyone (for the most part...) had fun that night!

The other day I took a trip to Value Village and to be honest I don't think I'm cut out for hunting around for deals and nice things. I'm kind of lazy. I like it there. Maybe it's just because Value Village was so huge but we were just driving on Bloor and I decided, why not? I got a belt and a ring, which turned out to be a mood ring which makes me laugh! I remember those back when I was a kid, and it reminds me of that Relient K song that made fun of girls called Mood Rings. I haven't worn the belt yet but when I do I'll snap a pic and post it. A mood ring!

Going to school downtown has its perks. For example, walking over to Yorkville between classes while enjoying the nice weather we had this past week! I've been shopping a lot more than usual lately... I told myself I'd wait til summer. Fail. I blame it on Ed! Joking... But he has been shopping more lately and I got caught up in the mood! I've been trying to convince him to play up his skinniness and opt for slimmer jeans and sleeker sneakers. I like Nudies and the Burberry slip-ons, but he hasn't really warmed up to my ideas just yet.

I watched Alice in Wonderland today! I love the dresses Alice wore! Helena Bonham Carter is fabulous as the Red Queen, perfectly haughty cruel just like her character in Harry Potter. Today I've been bumming around. It's my relaxation day today, filled with movies, food, and one litttleee blog post. Which turned into a not so little post... I think I may continue this until Monday, when I will begin kicking U of T ass. Or vice versa... This weekend is another friends birthday, this time from high school. We're going uptown for dinner and karaoke! My first time!

Yay I'm starting to become more frequent with my blogs! Well, it's only the beginning so we'll see! Today was, admittedly, an unproductive day. I was planning on camping out at Robarts today but I didn't get a chance to do so, as Ed needed to exchange his belt at Burberry and I got a new pair of Lululemons. They're a denim-colour, so it's different and I'm excited to wear them! I'm glad I didn't have to hem them, I hate having to wait to get it back. I got a few other new things from Ed, like another DiorShow Iconic mascara and a Living Proof thickening cream. I tried it out this morning and I like the results! Maybe not worth the $30, but I'll hold final judgment for tomorrow morning when I give it another go. After class today Ed took me to get some Marble Slab! I finally satisfied my chocolate peanut butter craving!

My midterm on Tuesday went well, I think. This weekend it's time to get cracking on my paper and another assignment. Instead of studying today, Ed and I took a little shopping detour... online. I'm eying a whole bunch of things, but two bags in particular...

I'm completely addicted to this song by The Stiff Dylans called Ultraviolet! I watched the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging a while ago, but I came across the song again recently and I can't stop playing it! I'm one of those people that listen to a song over and over til they're sick of it; I know, I'm dreadful. I've been getting back into some bands I liked, and still do, but forgot about for some time. For example, Weezer, Blink182, Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, The Strokes, and more... I've miss this music! Yesterday some family was visiting from HK so my parents had a dinner at my place and I was stuck with babysitting my younger cousin, Chloe. She's a cute girl, a bit demanding. She kept asking me to play with her and inventing games, so to escape Ed and I went to pick her up bubble tea. She also likes taking photos so the crooked one is her handiwork. Today I spent the day in the library studying for my midterm on Tuesday. I was supposed to study with my old roommate, Teresa, but she woke up three hours later than planned... I don't know how she can sleep in til 5pm! Crazy girl, I love her to bits. Even last year, when we were roommates, our timezones were completely opposite. Some days when I'd get back at 7am she'd be just going to bed! University life to the extreme! Luckily Ed came and we got some studying done. After a little unsuccessful shopping we went to Asian Legend for dinner with Teresa and Simon, as it's the last day of CNY so you're supposed to have that rice ball dessert. On the way to my friend's place, there was a huge crowd and St. George and Bloor since Canada won Gold! It was hilarious, Everyone was honking, people were waving flags and crowding the roads. Pedestrians came up to Ed and I in the car and offered us scotch! The festivities continued well later as we saw a bunch on the way home after dinner. I'm thoroughly stuffed! I still haven't completely mastered taking photos in mirrors, but I'll get there! I still remember prom when I made several attempts in a mirror shot with my friend and I failed every time. She tried once and it was a piece of cake. I haven't taken any photos with shoes yet, but I wore this with my Marc by Marc Jacob rain boots. I think they're so cute! I have the ones in gray, but they are extremely heavy, so it's not ideal for walking long distances. I want to get some a pair of Burberry ones, or these light-weight Fendi ones I saw at Browns. Rain boots are a great investment, I think. Winters can get especially slushy, just like today, and the spring/summer was pretty rainy last year! My shoes are all over the house so I usually grab them before I'm out the door, so I'm too lazy to take photos with them just yet. Maybe when I get more into blogging. Today was such sunny warm weather! It melted a lot of the snow from the past couple days. Friday had quite a bit of snowfall! I can't wait til spring, I'm so tired of bundling up to go out!

WHOOPS! I didn't mean to stop blogging for such a long period of time. At first I was busy with studying for midterms and such, in which I planned to update during reading week, but then I got whisked away to The Bahamas for reading week! It was my FIRST trip, EVER! Well, it was actually my first trip via a plane. After years of being subject to the teasing of a sheltered life, I've broken free! It's not that I was never allowed the travel, it's just that my family never went anywhere, and if I were to go anywhere with friends, I'd have to be bankrolling the trip. A bit difficult for a previously part-time employed student who is currently unemployed. Well, actually I got a temporary job at my college in U of T for the Alumni Fund. I start tomorrow!
In any case, the trip was great. It was a bit cool, considering El Nina came to bite me in the ass, but I managed to get some sun time and some beach time. We went to visit the mainland of Nassau, as our hotel was on an island. We also went to the casino at Atlantis as we were staying at the hotel beside it, Riu Palace. It was an all inclusive trip, meaning, I ate a lot. And drank a lot. All day. Every day. I sure got the money's worth. Ed and I would order room service at night when we would watch the Olympics. I never did get to try to Mexican Toasties... They always ran out! Overall, I believe it's safe to say that this tanned girl needs to hit the gym when she gets a chance.
However, seeing the busy month that's coming up I'm not sure how many chances I'll get. I've made a schedule for the next few weeks where I'll be tackling two midterms and a term paper. After that, I've got three in class finals, the last being finished on the 31st of March. Lucky for me I only have 2 final exams during the exam period and they're decently spread out. On a negative note, I still haven't found a summer job. I don't know a lot of people who have, but it doesn't make me any less nervous. I hate not having office experience. It really hinders my resume. However I really need to get into an office. I need a full time summer job to keep me busy and the funds going. Not to mention that I need to pay for school!

Pilate
This little guy is my comfort every day or night I come home. He sleeps in my bed, loves to eat cheese, loves to sleep on my lap and is always up and ready to go out.
He's a bit of a bad ass dog but I love him to bits.
Today Pilate and I have the house to ourselves. The plan for the day is to get as much work done as possible! A paper, a presentation, an application, and studying for an upcoming midterm. I was supposed to go to a hockey game today, but it really wasn't the best timing. I'm a bit disappointed but I know I have to make the best of it.
On another note, I finally got my passport! Reading week is coming up, I wish I were going somewhere. The winter is reaching it's coldest days yet, not to mention a relentless wind chill. I can't wait for summer, that is, if I find a summer job! Postings aren't out yet; I've been checking every day. I hope something comes my way! Fingers crossed.

I (finally...) received the items I ordered from Urban Outfitters. Thanks bf. They were a part of my Christmas present (shopping for the month of December) and shipped to one of his friends in the States. Will post photos up soon. I didn't go crazy, I just got a couple t-shirts, a cardigan, a clutch, necklace, and bracelet. Is it just me or do I never feel like I have enough clothes?
Today I had my ENG201 tutorial at 9am (ugh, I know. And on a Friday! Such blasphemy). I woke up feeling like crap, since my brother gave me a cold a few days ago (thanks, big bro), and wasn't really in the mood to go. I tried to go back to sleep but couldn't so I took it as a sign and got my ass up and downtown.
I hate commuting.
It turns out it was a good idea to go, as we got our midterm papers back.
I'm a bit late on my schedule plan for the day, so I'll keep this post short. This weekend is full of just working on my paper, assignments, and readings. I've sworn off MSN for the weekend (such a distraction) and made an hourly schedule for this whole weekend (oh by the way I'm in love with making lists and schedules...) and unfortunately I got distracted with watching a new episode of Vampire Diaries, which I'm losing interest in now.
